Chapter 216 Getting Overwhelmed
With every kick of the ball, the match was getting more and more intense, twenty minutes had already been exhausted so far but the match was still leveled.
Unique FC were getting bullied here but they were doing well to hold their ground so far in defense that was the reason why the match was still leveled.
Ciro had been a real menace to the Bilbeth Premier League side, he had not attempted any shot so far but his through balls into the box were deadly, something that the away side would term as annoying.
Dave had to leave his goal line to foil the ones that he sent toward Vasquez.
For the ones that did escape him, Lelemar used them to force two crucial saves out of him and the other one that he couldn\'t get to was quickly cleared by Adolf before Vasquez could do anything with it.
"FC Barcelona are trying everything they can to take back the lead but Unique FC are saying no, they\'re getting overwhelmed but they\'re not backing down, I just hope they can keep this up for long," Jim said.
Frednado raced down the middle with the ball and just before he had to confront Martinez, he sent the ball to Lelemar.
The winger tried to get past Norman with leg overs and flashy leg movements and after doing that for a while, he sent the ball to the left midfielder behind him, the player didn\'t waste time in launching the ball toward Ciro.
"Ciro\'s with the ball now."
Unlike Lelemar, he didn\'t start any flashy movements all he wanted to do was get past Roland and he knew how to do that without wasting time.
He combined his speed with his S-level ball control, that was all he needed to get past the left back.
"Ciro\'s moving," Jim said. "And he\'s past Roland!"
Once the Barcelona talisman got to the edge of the box from the right side, he pulled his left leg back and sent the ball flying toward the right side of the goalpost.
"Ciro!"
Dave quickly dived toward the ball as soon as he saw him release the shot and was able to the ball right on time to push it out for a corner kick.
"Oh, what a wonderful save!" Jim exclaimed. "That was so close to going in but Dave said no."
Ciro was going to be the one taking the corner kick and he didn\'t waste time in moving the ball to the spot.
"I think it\'s pretty obvious which team is superior with what we\'ve seen so far in the match but sometimes the superior team doesn\'t win the match," Steve said.
"Yeah, you\'re right, Steve but I don\'t think this is one of those cases," Jim said.
Ciro was standing over the ball now, and as soon as he heard the referee\'s whistle, he slowly took two steps backward before he closed up on the ball and sent it flying into the box.
"The ball has been sent flying into the box," Jim commented.
The ball was sent flying toward Lelemar who was being marked by Aima inside the box, both of the players jumped up to get their heads on the ball and Lelemar happened to be the one who got his head on the ball but the pressure Aima put on him made him fail to get a proper header on the ball.
The ball slid off his head and was now heading toward the right side of the goalpost.
Dave moved toward the ball to catch it and just as she left the middle of her goal line, the ball deflected on Norman\'s legs just as he tried to clear it and was now heading toward the goalpost from the middle with Vasquez quickly making his way toward it.
"This is what you\'ve been training for, Dave." The goalkeeper muttered to himself before he quickly stretched his hands and caught the ball right on time to quickly lay low and avoid Vasquez\'s leading to the striker crashing on top of him.
"That was close to going in, but Dave was there to show safe hands," Jim said.
"If he hadn\'t gotten there fast enough, Vasquez would have pushed the ball and his leg would have definitely made contact with his face, I\'m just surprised he managed to get there first and also avoid that leg." Steve expressed.
\'Looks like adding three stat points to my dexterity earlier was a good choice, I need to be fast to keep up with these guys and I don\'t want stamina running low.\' The goalkeeper said before he sent the ball flying into the pitch toward Minino.
[ +5 stat points added to dexterity ]
[ Dexterity: 44~49 ]
<And now you\'ve used up all your saved stat points>
\'It\'s the best thing to do in a situation like this.\' He replied.
<Are you really sure about that>
Minino moved forward with the ball before he rolled it back to Minino who quickly sent the ball rolling to Ferran.
"Ferran."
Ferran moved forward with the ball before he quickly sent it flying toward Mateo on the left but that was a mistake as the right back there was quick enough to steal the ball before Mateo could get his foot on it.
"What a nice way to steal the ball."
The player quickly rolled the ball to one of the center backs who quickly sent the ball flying toward Vasquez.
"And now they\'re starting a counterattack." Steve said.
Vasquez had Adolf on him but he managed to get his foot on the ball first, he knew he couldn\'t cleanly escape from Adolf so he sent the ball to the beat man for the job, the man on his right.
Ciro received the ball from him and quickly broke free from Roland.
"Ciro has broken free from Roland and it looks like we\'re going to have a one-on-one situation here," Jim said.
The winger was racing toward the goalpost with Roland chasing him from behind and the two center-backs trying to shut him down from the middle but the forward was just too fast for them to catch up to, with how far away they were from him.
"Oh, it\'s a one-on-one situation here!" Jim exclaimed.
Dave quickly rushed off his goal line to try and stop him but that was all the winger needed to deal his final blow, he waited for the goalkeeper to get close enough before he quickly lobbed the ball over him.
The ball flew toward the goalpost and made little contact with the crossbar before falling into the back of the net.
"What a way to finish it!" The commentator exclaimed. "The ball seemed to have made little contact with the crossbar there but it wasn\'t enough to stop it from going in."
"Come on." The goalkeeper muttered with a frustrated voice before crashing to the floor on his back.
<The only way that ball could not have gone in was if he made a mistake but saving it was impossible and that will be the same even for the most skilled goalkeeper>
"Unique FC were a little light on the back, you don\'t do something like that when you\'re defending against this Barcelona trio and they just got punished for it. It\'s Barcelona two, Unique FC one, the Catalans have the lead back." Steve expressed.
