Chapter 140 Landmines
When Lei Zhen heard that the black mage had set up numerous landmines in the muddy water, he was astonished for a moment.
To think the black mage would resort to petty tricks like this meant that it was getting desperate.
"The land mines being set up in the muddy water helped camouflaged it which resulted in the earlier explosion. Though now that we know there are landmines set up, the soldiers can temporarily retreat for the moment." Lei Zhen said calmly, not affected by the slight downfall from their earlier momentum.
If the black mage was that easy to apprehend, then he wouldn\'t have even bothered to mobilize this many armies for assistance.
Despite that, Lei Zhen was a bit taken by surprise when he realized the black mage was setting up landmines secretly.
This just goes to show that the black mage was doing something very important with the hideout of the previous Lizardark. Otherwise, it should have left from the beginning and not wasted its time over here fighting.
\'Since you can\'t leave, then just prepare to be bombarded.\' Lei Zhen thought to himself.
There was no way he would let the black mage succeed what evil plot it was trying to scheme.
Meanwhile, Evan was confused as to why Lei Zhen ordered a temporary retreat of the soldiers.
"Chancellor, our soldiers are merely caught off-guard. We can still continue to advance without triggering the landmines now that we know about its presence." Evan said, seemingly trying to withhold their soldiers\' reputation.
Evan thought Lei Zhen was disappointed by the soldiers for being caught in a trap and causing a loud explosion throughout the swamp.
However, Evan couldn\'t be more mistaken as Lei Zhen chuckled softly.
"Who said I\'m having the soldiers retreat forever? It was just for a temporary moment since we have experts to deal with the landmines instead." Lei Zhen said, patting Evan\'s shoulder to help him relax his nerves.
"Experts?" Evan raised an eyebrow in confusion.
"Yes, who else but the Lizardark can be considered an expert when it comes to their natural habitat." Lei Zhen laughed, pointing his finger at the newly arrived Lizardark which Chief Jaruk was leading.
"Is that the reason why you allied with them?" A look of surprise could be seen on Evan\'s face.
"Not really. I didn\'t account for the use of landmines from the black mage, but I did mean to have Lizardarks to assist us since they are more adept in this environment." Lei Zhen explained, not bothering to take credit for something he didn\'t expect or have done.
pαndα,noνɐ1,сoМ "I see… but still, it\'s the great foresight of the Chancellor that we can resolve this crisis instantly." Evan still managed to find a loophole to curry favor from Lei Zhen.
And at this point, Lei Zhen was already used to the NPC in Yors Castle currying favor with him.
Sometime later, the Lizardark seemed to be in their own pool, finding landmines and deactivating them like it was nothing.
"Chief Jaruk, another three landmines here."
"Haha, these are decent for our younglings to practice their inspection skills."
"Indeed, that black mage is probably throwing up blood for giving us a crash course for freeeee~"
The Lizardark were having a party at swiftly deactivating the landmines, causing the black mage to stomp its feet in anger.
"This motherfucker chancellor!" The black mage cursed in rage. "Who the hell calls an entire army to subjugate one person!!!"
The black mage was slowly losing their cool over the devious and wicked tactic of Lei Zhen.
Meanwhile, Lei Zhen calmly sat on a decorated chair with a smile behind his mask as he witnessed the scene unfold.
\'You must be feeling irritated by now, right? Come on, I know you still have some other cards. Or are you going to hide in the rat hole until we knock on your doorsteps?\' Lei Zhen smirked inwardly.
And sure enough, the black mage had enough of hiding behind the scene now that the Lizardark had successfully disarmed all landmines that were originally used to stall for time.
The black mage came out of the original habitat of the Lizardark while holding its staff.
"Chancellor of Yors Castle. I\'m curious about you. Didn\'t one of my summoned monsters swarm at you in the past?" The black mage suddenly shouted, pointing its staff toward Lei Zhen.
With that provocation from the black mage, all eyes are now on Lei Zhen.
Silence emitted on the battlefield which was supposedly all loud noise and fighting.
Seeing how everyone was focused on him, Lei Zhen calmly stood up and took a step forward.
And under everyone\'s eyes, Lei Zhen shouted, "What the heck are you talking about? Soldiers swarm the crap out of the black mage. The black mage is merely trying to stall time with conversation. We are not fools to fall for that lowly trick!"
No one. Not a single person on the battlefield expected Lei Zhen would respond in such a manner.
However, it was proven effective as the soldiers on the battlefield made a battle cry, boosting their ferocious morale to the maximum degree.
"Hmph, How dare the black mage try to deceive us?"
"This black mage is overconfident to think it could swarm our Chancellor."
"Comrades, let\'s fucking kick his ass and hang the black mage up as our war trophy."
The black mage retreated a few steps back in a panic as it clearly didn\'t expect his casual comment to backfire to such a degree.
Meanwhile, Lei Zhen wanted to laugh so badly on the surface.
\'Heh, want to corner me? You\'re three million years too young to do so, bitch.\' He cursed inwardly.
There was no way he would allow anyone else in here to know about his pathetic start of the game.
"Listen up soldiers, whoever can capture or thrash the heck out of the black mage shall receive a bountiful reward. In addition, you shall have your own fief and become a noble under my personal recommendation."
Lei Zhen decided to add more oil to the fire, prompting the soldiers to be even more eager to apprehend the black mage.
