Chapter 73 Prophecy
Royal Palace in Yors Castle
"Report! Prince Leon and Prince Carter are increasing their soldiers bordering both the east and west sides. We are completely trapped within the walls." A commander knight was kneeling on one knee as he reported the situation to the king.
Besides him, there were other loyal nobles and supporters of the King as an audience. Their faces were grim and filled with confusion as they didn\'t know why the prince would choose rebellion at this time.
As for the King, Francis Norton, he was beyond furious at their action, but his face remained calm on the surface. There was not an ounce of change in his facial expression.
Being a king for so long, controlling one facial expression was a must to prevent anyone from reading him.
"Has there been any news of Princess Kate yet?" Francis Norton ignored the report and asked for the whereabouts of his beloved daughter.
The commander knight sweated a little bit as he remained silent, unable to answer a simple question from the king.
The king was currently enraged even if his facial expression doesn\'t show it.
Hence, one wrong answer might mean the end of his life or even his family as well.
Seeing the commander knight had no intention to reply, Francis already knew the answer to his question.
\'Could the prophecy really be true? If not, then I would have captured that ungrateful bastard already.\' Francis thought, his mind recalling the goddess\' prophecy that he received 4 years ago.
It had been 4 years ago since he was told about today\'s circumstances in which their savior would be the one to bring in the Ferold\'s Ring.
However, being cornered by his two eldest sons was a humiliation. Not to mention, his precious daughter might be harmed by one of them, causing him to be infuriated.
"Pass my order, if there is still no news of Princess Kate within 3 days, then we shall open the entrance and capture the two traitor princes." Francis extended his hand and commanded in an authoritative tone.
Afterward, he stood up and left the room, not bothering to discuss any further. Leaving the room and walking to his private office, Francis was astonished to see a familiar person.
"Robert Knightman?" Francis asked in a shocked voice. "You\'re finally back after all this time?"
The familiar person was naturally Robert Knightman, who had left the Royal Palace 4 years ago to fulfill his duty entrusted by the goddess.
"That\'s right, King Francis." Robert Knightman knelt on one knee and smiled brightly.
"Why are you kneeling? Quickly stand up." Francis didn\'t bother with formalities with his friend from a long time ago.
"Heh, I still have to pay some respect to the king of Yors Castle. Otherwise, those unloyal nobles would use it against me."
"Hmph, those nobles that sided with the princes will have their doomsday sooner or later. They really think I\'m a toothless tiger just because I\'ve been making zero movements."
"I know you must have been disappointed to see the prophecy become true, but it is what it is. Your two sons are simply too power-hungry, with Prince Leon having the most greed." Robert Knightman said, hoping that Francis would get over it and not maul over the fact that he was betrayed simultaneously.
ραпdα nᴏνa| сom Nothing was more painful than being backstabbed by their very own son in life.
"Maybe you\'re right… but I\'m more concerned about my daughter now. That ungrateful bastard really doesn\'t care about family relationships and sent someone to ambush her." Francis clenched his fist in anger.
"Haha, then you can rest assured already." Suddenly, Robert Knightman laughed heartily.
"Huh? What do you mean by that?"
"Remember why I left Yors Castle in the first place?"
"Isn\'t it to find the rightful heir of the Ferold\'s Ring? Without the rightful heir, our Yors Castle would be doomed sooner or later. This is also why I\'ve been acting to the public that we\'ll need to find Ferold\'s Ring as soon as possible. However, that daughter of mine is really impatient and couldn\'t stand the citizen\'s suffering anymore." Francis sighed softly.
Princess Kate\'s worries about the citizens\' lives left him no choice but to tell her a glimpse of his plan with Robert Kngihtman, hoping that she would stop her expedition plan.
Alas, he didn\'t expect telling her would actually backfire and that Kate was even more insistent to find Ferold\'s Ring and meet Robert Knightman again.
Robert Knightman was her personal instructor and was almost a half-father figure for her when he was busy dealing with diplomatic stuff.
His moment of hesitation and love for his daughter caused him the greatest regret. If he was adamant about restricting his daughter, then she wouldn\'t be left outside in the open, with life and death unknown to him.
While Francis was in distress, Robert Knightman\'s laughter continued to be louder, prompting Francis to look at him in a sour mood. His daughter\'s life was unknown yet he still had the nerve to laugh at this time?
"Are you being serious right now, Robert?" He asked in a slightly angry tone.
Even though they knew each other for a long time, his daughter was the apple of his eye, and he won\'t allow anyone to laugh or disrespect her.
"You can stop glaring at me like that. I\'m laughing because you worried too much. The person I\'ve entrusted has already encountered Princess Kate and she fully trusts him." Robert Knightman smirked and revealed some details.
Before coming here, Robert Knightman had gone to search for Princess Kate, only to find her being rescued by Lei Zhen and a merchant.
Since then, he believed that the prophecy was really true and that he had chosen the correct person.
He knew something special was in Lei Zhen and gambled for a bit. He had waited for 4 years and it finally bore fruit.
Hearing the news from Robert Kngihtman, an expression of joy could finally be seen on Francis Norton\'s face.
"Finally… the storm that had always been brewing at my Yors Castle will finally be resolved soon." Francis stared at the starry sky from the office\'s window and smiled slightly.
