Chapter 243 My Sister-In-Law Is My Surrogate 2.0

Things were going well and the Hans began looking to Chen Meili, expectant of an heir until. Unfortunately, Han Jinhai lost his life less than a year later during a field operation to catch a mafia organization.

Chen Meili and the entire Han family were filled with pure agony and out of desperation, the Han family members began pressuring Han Tao to quit his job as a policeman and did everything possibly to keep the only surviving male descendant in a glass cage as he was their only hope for continuing the Han bloodline.

Han Tao, being the unyeilding man that he was, vehemently refused to quit being a policeman. Seeing this, the Han family had no other choice but to urge him to quickly get married. He had no problem with this request and since he wasn\'t a very emotional man, he offhandedly decided to marry Xu Lifen, whom he had interacted with a few times.

The elite Hans were extremely dissatisfied with Han Tao\'s casual choice of a no name orphan but they dared not speak up in fear of angering their only heir.

Xu Lifen, on the other hand, had been really happy to receive the proposal of the man she loved but had been a bit skeptical of the idea of living in a family home with about 11 or so in-laws at the time of marriage.

Han Tao had put his foot down on the decision of remaining in his family home. He was a sickler for family and since he\'d grown up showered in the love and care of every single member of his family, he wanted that for his kids too.

This managed to thoroughly convince Xu Lifen and soon, she became very fond of the idea too. This was because she was an orphan and didn\'t know what it was like to have so many people loving and caring for you. Like every person, she too wanted her own children to have everything she didn\'t.

Everything was peaceful after marriage until six months later when Xu Lifen found out she was pregnant but then had been involved in a car accident the very same day.

At the hospital, she discovered that she\'d miscarried the baby and the shape of her uterus had been compromised, making it impossible for a fertilized egg to be successfully implanted hence making her unable to carry her own children.

The Hans were so angry about this. They initially did not like Xu Lifen due to her status, adding the fact that she\'d brought up the idea of taking their only heir out of the family home when she first got married, she was seen as a home breaker.

They secretly blamed her and reprimanded her for being careless and losing a precious descendant. When they discovered that her uterus had been damaged, their dislike morphed into hatred and curses.

Filled with the despair of losing her child and the judgement from her in-laws, Xu Lifen became increasingly depressed. She was an orphan who had lived openly and simply for all her life so whenever any member of the Han family gave her trouble, she lashed out and answered in kind, making them to have an even poorer impression of her.

Soon enough, Xu Lifen realized that the Hans had been secretely trying to hook Han Tao up with different women. She became very angry and caused a ruckus but after finding out that Han Tao had vehemently rejected the other women, she was able to keep her cool.

This went on until both husband and wife decided to get a surrogate to bear their child through gestational surrogacy. Everyone was happy about this and Xu Lifen had found a new lease on life as she happily searched for a suitable surrogate to bear her child.

That was where the special one came in. When Han Jinhai lost his life, the Hans had sadly hinted at Chen Meili that she was free to leave and remarry but Chen Meili had adamantly refused. She had come to love every one of them as they had treated her very well and she also couldn\'t bring herself to look for someone else because she had loved Han Jinhai deeply.

In life, she proclaimed to forever be Han Jinhai\'s wife and in death she swore to be Han Jinhai\'s ghost. Since Han Jinhai had died before her then she would spend the rest of her life as Han Jinhai\'s widow.

The Hans were deeply moved by Chen Meili\'s devotion towards their deceased loved one and decided to let her be. They also liked Chen Meili very much. She was the daughter of the equally prestigious Chen family, a well established doctor and a very warmhearted person. What was there not to like?

Soon enough, Xu Lifen found a suitable surrogate. The entire process was supposed to be fairly anonymous. The surrogate would be implanted with the fertilized eggs embryo and would be under the care of the hospital for the entire nine months.

A Non-Disclosure Agreement was signed and both sides would have minimal contact with each other until the child was born in order to avoid unneccessary hassles in the future.

Although it was certain that through gestational surrogacy, the child would absolutely have no DNA belonging to the surrogate, Xu Lifen -being new to this- didn\'t want to take any chances and have a case where a surrogate would try to unreasonably claim rights to the child hence the additional contract.

On the day of the In-Vitro Fertilization, the entire Han family were eagerly waiting at the hospital but two hours before the start of the operation, the surrogate suddenly sent in news that she had met with a family incident and couldn\'t proceed with the deal.

Xu Lifen was devasted and the rest were disappointed. Seeing everyone\'s downcast state, Chen Meili, being the warmhearted person that she was, humbly stepped forward and offered to be the surrogate.

Without giving it another thought, Xu Lifen declined but Chen Meili reasoned with her saying she wanted to do this to repay the care the Hans had given her since she married in two years ago.

Before Xu Lifen could decline again, an aunt spoke up saying it wasn\'t a bad idea to have Chen Meili carry the baby. The Hans were quite traditional so even if they were made to understand that the child would not have any biological connection to the surrogate, they still felt it was better to have a person with the genes of a prestigious family to carry their heir. Chen Meili happened to fit that criteria nicely.

Xu Lifen still strongly resisted the idea but another person spoke up that with Chen Meili being part of the family, they could properly watch over the pregnancy process to avoid any mishap and both parents would be fully involved in the birth process of their child.

Han Tao, being the straightforward man that he was, had nothing to say about it so the Hans were thoroughly convinced that their idea was great, causing Xu Lifen to reluctantly gave in.

During the IVF, the doctor\'s had managed to inseminate twin embryos into Chen Meili\'s womb and after three days of stabilizing the foetus, the special one officially became Xu Lifen\'s and Han Tao\'s gestational surrogate.
